I chose Covering and Surrounding because I liked this one the best. It also has a lot of real life situations in it that you have to figure out. The one thing that I learned from this unit was length time’s width and area and perimeter.
In investigation 1 they want you to design a bumper cars arena. They give you a certain area and perimeter to make it harder on you because they want to see how you do in this investigation.
In investigation 2 they show you how to count the area and perimeter when a part of it is cut off. Also how to measure how long something is in area and perimeter. Then they showed you how the right shapes fit to make floor or wall patterns.
In investigation 3 they show you how to measure triangles on grids with an angle ruler. And how to measure parallelograms with pieces cut off. Here is a reflection from this investigation. Investigation 1 Reflection 1 Covering and Surrounding By: Carly Bee
An area refers to the amount of surface enclosed by the boundary of a figure. Perimeter refers to the measure of the distance around a figure.
It is right because it can have the same amount of squares inside the shape and have a different perimeter.
If you know the length and width of the shape then you can times the length and width.
If you know the length and width then you can do this LxWxLxW.
